Join us for an extraordinary evening of live classical guitar. Plucked Horizons is a concert series featuring talented classical guitarists; each performance is curated to highlight a different musical theme. These intimate performances include two 30-minute sets and an intermission to enjoy wine and conversation in the elegant surroundings of 33 Hotel.
Katty Mayorga is a Nicaraguan-American guitarist, composer, educator and songwriter based in NYC. Her performances encompass various styles from classical and folkloric music from Latin American to the neo-classical. Katty actively performs in the USA, Latin America, and Europe as a soloist and as part of Artemis Guitar duo with guitarist Isabella Abbonizio, and with flutist Ti Chung. She has premiered musicals showcasing minorities and worked with award winning Latin American choreographers on classical, acoustic and electric guitar. Katty has shared the stage with Marvin Hamlisch, Kelli O’Hara, the Sinfonietta, Flor de Toloache, Ana Villafañe, amongst other notable celebrities. Masterclasses and mentorships include Peter Press, Laura Snowden, Douglas Lora, Paolo Bellinati, and João Luiz Rezende. Katty graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Purchase and holds a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance under the tutelage of Frederic Hand. Nicoletta Todesco is a Brooklyn-based guitarist and composer known for seamlessly incorporating singing into her performances. Her concerts range from early music to original compositions, featuring both voice and guitar, as well as music for electric guitar. Nicoletta has performed across the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico, both as a soloist and as a member of ensembles such as the Clio Artist Project and the duo Todesco-Gracia. She has also collaborated with Heartbeat Opera on several productions. In 2025, she will release her debut album of original songs, The Cockroach Diaries.
Originally from Italy, Nicoletta (or Niki, as friends call her) left her hometown at 14 to graduate with honors from the Trento Conservatory. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Guitar Performance from the Bologna Conservatory before moving to the US to refine her unique style at Yale School of Music under the mentorship of Benjamin Verdery. While at Yale, she was awarded the Eliot Fisk Prize, which recognizes an outstanding guitarist whose achievements and dedication have significantly contributed to the guitar department.
Nicoletta currently serves as the marketing director and artist liaison at Augustine Strings and is the director of the New York City Guitar Orchestra.
